An assignment in York Suburban High School teacher Betsy Bedell’s senior English classes had students looking at Dante’s Inferno in a new way.
After students read the book, Bedell gave them an assignment. In groups, they were to recreate the story in a different genre – maybe western or horror. Then, they were to create movie trailers for their version.
“Students evaluate actual trailers to pick apart their contents, so what they create should include all of those pieces as well as portray the important themes, motifs and symbols of the Inferno,” Bedell wrote. The school held a “red carpet day” and invited parents and school staffers to watch the trailers.
Bedell shared a few of the results with me. Watch them below!
